Student-Parent Frequently Asked Questions

What day does school start?

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 8, 2022. School hours are 7:05 am-2:05 pm.

When can students get their schedules?

Student schedules are typically available one to two days before the start of school. They are available on Infinite Campus.

How will my student know how to navigate the school?

Check out maps of both the upstairs and downstairs. Students will be able to access their schedule before the first day of school through Infinite Campus. Schedules display both room number and teacher name for each class.

What will the schedule be for the first day?

Students will start with a full day of school and attend their five A-day classes. Students should access their schedule on Infinite Campus before arriving to school. Staff will be posted around the building to assist students in locating classrooms. Our bell schedule is as follows:

What if my student needs a change to their schedule?

A link to a schedule change request will be made available to students on the first day of school via email. Students have ten days to access the online request form for preference changes. The window closes on August 21. Counselors will begin reviewing changes August 15.

How will student drop off, parking, and buses be organized?

The front parking lot has been configured to provide an organized flow of traffic for student drop off, please see the traffic flow map. Expect heavy congestion the first week of school. Only registered student vehicles may park in the designated student lot, please review the parking contract for eligibility. Buses enter and exit using the bus loop (see map). Dedicated staff assist students in finding buses each afternoon. Schools do not manage bus transportation. Please direct all comments and questions to 615-259-4636.

I have questions regarding bus transportation, routes, buses showing up late, how to find my bus stop, etc. What should I do?

All information regarding bus transportation can be found on the district’s Transportation Website. This site includes how to Find Your Bus Stop, Alternate Transportation Forms, an FAQ, and more. If you have questions regarding bus transportation, call 615-259-4636.

How will breakfast and lunch be organized this year?

Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria daily from 6:45- 7:00. Students will have a 30-minute lunch during fourth period. Please visit the district website for more information about MNPS’s Food Service.

When will I get a laptop?

You will get a laptop during your first week of school. If you still have your laptop or have lost your laptop, you will not be given access to a new laptop.

How can I keep up with my student’s academic progress?

All teachers post up-to-date grades on Schoology. If you do not currently have parental access to Schoology reach out to Lori Bervoets for an access code. Email your child’s teacher with any questions regarding academic progress. All staff emails can be found using our Staff Directory. All staff are expected to return phone calls and emails promptly.

Did the grading scale change?

The grading scale has changed to a 10-point scale.

  • A: 90 – 100
  • B: 80 – 89
  • C: 70 – 79
  • D: 60 – 69

What is the school’s cellphone policy?

Please review our cellphone policy.

Students are welcome to carry a cellphone with them throughout the school day but personal use of any device is limited to breaks between classes and lunch time. We will politely request for a student to put away cellphones during class. Failure to comply with reasonable request will result in cellphone being taken and safely held by school staff. Any parent or guardian listed in Infinite Campus may retrieve the student’s device between the hours of 7am – 2pm, Monday through Friday.

Can I have food delivered to school (Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.)?

All food delivered to campus will be rejected. Under no circumstances should a student or parent have food delivered to our school. In an effort keep our campus safe, we want to limit the number of unknown visitors to the building.
